Phone number preselect

Modified on Tue, 11 Aug at 2:49 PM

Preselect, prefix, or number preselection option for an outgoing call — a feature that allows you to select numbers in the Virtual PBX settings through which calls to the called party will be made.

The prefix determines which company phone number will be used to make the call and can be edited in ’Telephony’’VPBX’’Numbering Plan’ in the left-hand menu → 'Phone numbers' ’Outbound’ tab.

Benefits:

  • Select any number connected to the VPBX for an outgoing call. For more information, see 'Phone numbers'.
  • Assign a number for each individual call
  • Allocate a number to an employee or an entire department
  • Change the number used for outgoing calls instantly

In addition to preselection, a number can be selected automatically when making a call (if the 'Autoselect by Region' option is enabled). For more information about configuring outbound routing, see 'Subscriber Outbound Routing Configuration'.

Dial the number in the following order:

prefix (for example,1), then the ***** symbol and the called party's number, including the country code (for example 1*4930123456 or 2*431123456).

FOR INTERNAL VIRTUAL PBX SUBSCRIBERS:

  • Calling an employee's extension

    Dial the employee's extension without any additional symbols, for example, 123.

  • Calling a local or long-distance number in Europe or an international number

    • To make a long-distance call, dial the following combination: 01 (area code) — *********** (called party's number) without country code.
    • To make an international call, dial the following combination: 0010 (country code) — 1 (area code) — *********** (called party's number).
  • for example::

    number +4314120099
    CC = 43, NDC = 1, SN = 4120099 (subscriber number)
    long-distance — 014120099
    international — 004314120099

    Note:

    These rules apply to most countries, but there are exceptions. For example, in Hungary, to call a Hungarian number within the country, dial 06 (instead of a single zero), followed by the NDC and SN.

  • Dialing a combination of digits without a prefix

    If the dialed combination contains more than four digits, the system will automatically determine that it is a call within the same NDC area => the system will automatically add the country code and NDC of the A-number.

    That is, if a subscriber with the Vienna number 44 1 1234567 (CC=43, NDC=1) dials 4120099, the call will be routed to 43 1 4120099.

    If a subscriber with a Vienna number wants to call a number in another Austrian city but does not dial 0 and the NDC, the call will be routed to 43 1 .
